Strengthening Global Ties: Tennessee Corn and Kentucky Corn Host International Trade Team

On October 10 and 11, Tennessee Corn and Kentucky Corn were proud to host a U.S. Grains Council trade team visit. The group, composed of participants from Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, and Venezuela, included buyers, general managers, and executive directors from organizations primarily operating animal feeding facilities in their respective countries.

The tour provided an up-close look at the U.S. corn supply chain, starting with a visit to the Green Plains Ethanol Plant. This stop offered insights into ethanol production and the role of distillers’ dried grains (DDGs) as a valuable feed component. Participants then toured Lowry Farms in Pilot Oak, Kentucky, where they saw sustainable farming practices and discussed how U.S. corn makes its way into the global marketplace. The group also visited Tosh Farms, exploring further aspects of how corn is included in livestock feed.

The trade team included a stop at the Agricultural Exhibit at Discovery Park of America, where they explored exhibits focused on the importance of agriculture in the region. By the end of the tour, the group had gained a comprehensive view of corn's journey from the field to various end uses, including feed and biofuels.

This visit served as an invaluable opportunity for Tennessee and Kentucky Corn to strengthen relationships with international buyers and demonstrate the quality and versatility of U.S. corn production.
