TCGA, TCPB Hold Summer Meetings, Elect Officers

NCGA CEO Neil Caskey gives a presentation on policy updates at the annual summer meeting.

The Tennessee Corn Growers Association and the Tennessee Corn Promotion Board held their annual summer meetings earlier this month in Mt. Juliet. 

During the meeting, attendees heard updates from Neil Caskey - CEO of the National Corn Growers Association, Justin Crowe - Director and State 4-H Program Leader, and Tom Looney – Senior Director of Advancement at the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture. Faith Cook and Lillie Cagle, state officers for Tennessee FFA, also gave a presentation on their FFA experiences.   

Additionally, Dr. Ben West, Executive Director of Farmers for Soil Health, and John Butler, President of Agricenter International presented an update on the Farmers for Soil Health Partnership program. This program uses USDA funding to incentivize farmers and help develop new markets through a digital marketplace that quantifies, verifies, and facilitates the sale of climate-smart commodities.

Officer elections were also held at the August meeting. For the Tennessee Corn Growers Association, Carl Schultz of Dyer County was elected president, Rob Holman of Obion County was elected vice president, Richard Conroy of Henry County was elected secretary, and Jonathan Tosh of Henry County was elected treasurer.

For the Tennessee Corn Promotion Board, Andy Davis of White County was elected chairman, Karl Forsbach of Hardin County was elected vice chairman, and John Townsend of Henry County was elected secretary/treasurer. 

For the Tennessee Corn Promotion Council, Andy Davis of White County was elected chairman, Carl Schultz of Dyer County was elected vice chairman, Rob Holman of Obion County was elected secretary, and Karl Forsbach of Hardin County was elected treasurer.
