TCPB Held Virtual Meeting

The Tennessee Corn Promotion Board (TCPB) recently held a virtual meeting to review the upcoming year’s budget and approve funding requests. While the January 7 meeting was changed to a virtual format to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our membership, the meeting received 100% board attendance.

“Although we would have preferred to see each other in person, the virtual TCPB meeting allowed us to successfully execute our business activities,” said Carol Reed, executive director of Tennessee Corn. “After thorough discussions and review of the 2021 funding requests, we are proud to announce that the board more than doubled their funding activities from the prior year.”

Some of the approved funding requests include:

  • Evaluating Sidedress Nitrogen Placement for Corn Grain Quality and Yield

  • Variety Testing Program for Corn Grain and Corn Silage

  • Supporting education material for corn production and corn use

The TCPB is responsible for collecting and administering corn checkoff funds. Approved funding will support several productivity grants which will benefit the Tennessee corn industry, agriculture, and economy.

The TCPB meets semi-annually and meetings are open to all Tennessee residents. Stay tuned for details of future gatherings and opportunities to get involved.
