Goodbye from Tennessee Corn Executive Director Carol Reed

This month, Tennessee Corn is saying goodbye to their Executive Director, Carol Reed. During her five-and-a-half-year tenure of service, Reed was instrumental in establishing the Tennessee Corn Promotion Board and revitalizing the Tennessee Corn Growers Association.

“Since the summer of 2019, I have had the distinct honor and privilege of leading the growth and directing the focus of the critical work of Tennessee Corn. I must express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the faithful support I have received from many wonderful

agricultural leaders from across the state, and my special appreciation for those from within production agriculture and for those who have served in leadership roles with Tennessee Corn. Tennessee Corn will serve as the culminating chapter of my public work. I’ve been blessed to have enjoyed a long, rewarding career of working in service to others. I am looking forward to the challenges of adapting to a retirement lifestyle.” said Reed.

John Townsend, Chairman of the Tennessee Corn Promotion Board, offered the following statement concerning Reed’s tenure as Executive Director: “I am incredibly proud that during Carol’s tenure as Executive Director, we have elevated Tennessee Corn’s stature within the Tennessee agricultural community and have expanded and strengthened our footprint with university research within four regional universities. Additionally, our efforts to improve consumer appreciation for the importance of corn as an excellent source of food, fuel and livestock production have been significantly impactful under Reed’s leadership.”

Reed concluded, “To the Tennessee Corn Leadership Team, to the many agricultural leaders in state and federal government, to my fellow State Executive Directors across the country, to my friends and associates in the National Corn Growers Association, to the many agricultural leaders in universities across Tennessee, to my friends and associates in the greater Tennessee agriculture community who have worked by my side: Thank you. Godspeed.

The successor Tennessee Corn Executive Director will be announced in January 2025.
