Tennessee Corn Goes to D.C.

We had a wonderful time in Washington, D.C., on July 18, 2024.

While on Capitol Hill, Tennessee Corn Executive Director Carol Reed, along with other grower leaders, championed the interests of Tennessee farmers during meetings with congressional staff. Key discussions included the Farm Bill, the Next Generation Fuels Act, corn exports, and the expansion of ethanol markets abroad. Following those meetings, they toured the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, guided by Congressman Mark Green’s staff and enjoyed a visit with the team at the U.S. Grains Council. To round out the trip, grower leaders also had the pleasure of attending the National Corn Growers Association Corn Congress, at which Carl Shultz was the representative for Tennessee.

We recognize the importance of having knowledgeable representatives who understand the policies and legislation being passed in Washington, D.C., and the needs of farmers back home. We are honored and thankful that our members trust us in this way.

The Tennessee Corn Promotion Board is funded through a producer checkoff investment of 1 cent per bushel checkoff on all corn marketed in the state and is managed by nine farmer directors. The mission of the Tennessee Corn Promotion Board is to increase the value and sustainability of Tennessee Corn producers through promotion, advertising, market development, and research.
