Tennessee Corn Kicks Off “From Ear to Everything” Curriculum for Ag Literacy Week
Tennessee’s 2022 Ag Literacy Week will take place November 13-19, 2022.
In celebration of Tennessee agriculture, volunteers throughout the state will gather to read books with an agricultural theme to students to promote agriculture awareness and knowledge in local schools. In 2021, nearly 10,000 students were reached in all 95 counties of Tennessee.
Ag Literacy Week is an opportunity for Tennessee agriculturalists to represent agriculture in classrooms across the state. In addition, students and teachers benefit from follow-up activities and hands-on learning opportunities.
For 4th and 5th-grade teachers looking to continue their students’ knowledge of agriculture, Tennessee Corn provides educators with an interactive curriculum to help students see how Tennessee-grown corn plays a role in their day-to-day lives.
Following Tennessee Science Standards, From Ear to Everything is a six-part lesson plan designed to guide students through the fundamentals of corn with digital and hands-on learning activities. It includes a complete list of materials needed, instructor guides, and student handouts. Plus, access to an animated video series and a fun card game to help students further develop and test their understanding of corn.
Tennessee 4-H agents will begin piloting this program in classrooms in the coming months.
